PRESS RELEASE

Singapore, 29 August 2016 – Jebsen & Jessen Packaging, the leading packaging solutions experts in South East Asia, was recognised at the Packaging Star Awards 2016 for products that utilised recycled materials, help customers save up to 40% in packaging costs and reduce shipping volume – and thus costs - by over 30%. Organised by the Singapore Manufacturing Federation and the Packaging Council of Singapore, the awards recognise companies and individuals who showcase the best in material use, construction, innovative technology and environmental consciousness in the local packaging sector which is worth over S$550mil a year[1].

The company won two awards in the Commercial Transportation and Protection categories, with designs that transport fragile LED screens and easily-damaged drive magazines safely, cost less to make and transport, and could be adapted for similar products. Its innovative Tool Kit Box was also recognised in the Commercial Environment Sustainable Packaging category for its ease of use and storage of 29 accessories in a way that enables intuitive access, storage and retrieval without loss.

“Packaging has an often overlooked role in the global economy. Without well designed packaging, products and goods would not be able to reach their destination safely and in good condition,” said Mr. Chui Tau Siong, head of Jebsen & Jessen Packaging. “We are thankful for the recognition by the awards committee and will continue to strive towards developing packaging solutions that are environmentally sustainable and help our customers reduce costs.”

Singapore has recently indicated that there will be mandatory requirements for more sustainable packaging waste management and the aim of the Singapore Packaging Star Awards is to recognise companies that are at the cutting edge of reducing waste.

“Jebsen & Jessen Packaging have consistently showed that they are ahead of the curve in developing packaging solutions that meet the needs of their customers and the environment. We and the industry are inspired by their innovations and this is an award that is well deserved,” said Ms. Betty Tan, Deputy Chairman of Packaging Council of Singapore (PCS).

This is company’s 21st award in the Singapore Packaging Star awards.
